Hamsters belong to the family of rodents. These cute little animals are desert creatures which are found in Mongolia, Pakistan and Syria. As these creatures belong to dry and rocky areas they need warm and dry atmosphere to live. A hamster does not need a very spacious living but it needs at least that much space where he can move about easily.
A hamster’s cage is usually 12 inches wide, 18 inches long and 18 inches high. The variety of cages available for hamsters is innumerable. There are simple metal cages, tanks, novelty cages and expandable cages. One of the type of housing available for the hamsters is Rotastak. It is a type of housing in which is made keeping in mind the natural settings to which the hamsters belong.
Rotastak is made up of plastic bottles of different shapes and sizes. The basic idea behind making this type of housing is to make a place for the hamster which is suitable for playing and resting. The diameter of the housing should be around 15 centimetres. It should be made up of two pieces of dish shaped plastics that can be twirled together. One thing should be ensured that there is enough space for the mobility of the hamster because the hamster exercises by moving around running in circles in their houses.
Rotastak is small and can be placed in the desired place. One should take care of one thing that the plastic used in building the house of the hamster should not be easily chewable because if the plastic is not of good quality and is of light in material then the hamster would easily chew it. The advantage of rotastak is that that it can be constructed easily and is suitable for the hamster.
